Buy for your software and your workload

Start by naming the applications you use, the file sizes you edit and how many programs you keep open. A machine for occasional browser edits has a different job from one handling large local photo catalogs and video timelines. Do not treat a general “creator” label as a specification.

Check your exact application version’s current requirements before selecting hardware. Adobe lists separate requirements and recommendations for Lightroom Classic, including memory, graphics and storage, and recommends a fast SSD. Read Adobe’s published requirements ↗

Compare the parts you will feel

PartQuestion to ask
MemoryWill my usual apps and image sizes fit comfortably? Can I upgrade later?
StorageHow much room remains after apps, originals, previews and exports?
GraphicsDoes my exact software support and benefit from this GPU?
PortsCan I connect the reader, display and backup drive together?
PortabilityAm I editing at a desk or carrying this after every shoot?

Make room for originals and versions

Measure the space used by a recent shoot, including exported versions. Use that as a planning sample, then leave room for future projects and temporary files. A drive’s advertised capacity is not a promise that every byte will be available for photographs.

Keep a separate backup and verify that you can restore a few files. A second folder on the same physical drive is useful for organization, but it does not protect against that drive failing. Before formatting a card or deleting a shoot, check that your copies open correctly.

Separate local work from online processing

Photo Logic Studio imports and prepares images in your browser; its AI editing path sends requests to an image provider when configured. A more expensive GPU does not by itself guarantee faster remote processing. Choose your computer around the local tasks you also do, and consider your connection when moving large collections.

Before you check out

Verify the exact configuration in the listing: processor, memory, storage, operating system, ports, condition and warranty. Similar product names can hide very different configurations. This is a workflow guide, not a benchmark or a hands-on product review.
